My tabs aren't being parked

Tab Valet waits 20–30 minutes (or longer for frequently visited tabs) before parking. If you've just installed it, nothing will happen right away — that's normal.

If tabs still aren't parking after a long idle period, check:

  • Is the browser window focused? Tab Valet only parks when you're actively using Chrome.
  • Are the tabs pinned or in a tab group? Those are always skipped.
  • Is the tab playing audio? Audio tabs are never parked.
  • Is the tab the one you're currently viewing? The active tab is never parked.

If none of the above apply, try reloading the extension (see below).

The extension seems to have stopped working

Chrome occasionally pauses extensions, especially after updates. To restart Tab Valet:

  1. Go to chrome://extensions
  2. Find Tab Valet and click the reload icon (circular arrow)
  3. Re-open the sidebar

If the extension has an update pending, Chrome will prompt you to update it. Accept the update, then reload.

I can't find a tab I was expecting in the sidebar

There are a few places a missing tab might be:

  • Still open: Check your tab bar — it may not have been parked yet if it's been active recently.
  • Archived: Tabs parked for 7 days are automatically moved to the archive. Click the archive (warehouse) button in the sidebar header to check, or use Search (Pro).
  • Dismissed: If the tab was dismissed using the ✕ button, it was removed from Tab Valet entirely. It may still be in your browser history (⌘+Y on Mac, Ctrl+H on Windows).

A tab was parked that I wanted to keep open

The fastest way to get it back is to click its title in the sidebar to restore it immediately.

To prevent it from being parked again in the future, pin the tab: right-click the tab in the tab bar and select Pin. Pinned tabs are never parked automatically.

If you want to undo immediately after parking: a notification appears at the top of the sidebar for 8 seconds with an Undo button.

The parking notifications are distracting

The parking notification auto-dismisses after 8 seconds. There is currently no option to disable notifications entirely — they're the only way to access the Undo button. If you'd like a setting to suppress notifications, let us know.

My archive folder is missing from bookmarks

If you deleted the "Tab Valet Archive" folder from your bookmarks, Tab Valet will recreate it the next time a tab is archived. No action needed on your part.

If the archive button shows a count but the folder isn't in bookmarks, try reloading the extension (see above).

Search isn't working

Search is a Pro feature. If you're on the free plan after your trial ended, the search icon will show a lock and clicking it opens the upgrade page.

If you're on Pro and search isn't responding:

  1. Close and reopen the sidebar
  2. If that doesn't help, reload the extension at chrome://extensions

My trial ended but the limit isn't correct

Pro status is checked every 4 hours from ExtensionPay. After upgrading, there may be a short delay before the extension reflects your Pro status.

To force a refresh: close and reopen the sidebar, or reload the extension at chrome://extensions. If the issue persists after 30 minutes, email support@tabvalet.com.
