What is archiving?
Archiving moves a tab from the Tab Valet sidebar into a bookmarks folder called "Tab Valet Archive" in your browser. Archived tabs are real bookmarks — they remain accessible even if you uninstall Tab Valet.
Archiving is different from dismissing. Dismissed tabs are gone. Archived tabs are saved permanently.
Automatic archiving after 7 days
Any tab that stays parked for 7 days without being restored is automatically moved to the archive. This keeps your parked list focused on recent, relevant tabs.
Manual archiving
To archive any parked tab immediately:
- Comfortable view: Hover over the tab and click the warehouse icon
- Compact view: Click the tab to expand it, then select Archive from the menu
Viewing archived tabs
Click the archive (warehouse) button in the sidebar header to open your archive. This opens your browser's bookmarks manager filtered to the "Tab Valet Archive" folder.
The archive button shows a badge with the number of archived tabs.
Restoring an archived tab
There are two ways to reopen an archived tab:
- Search (Pro): Use the search panel in the sidebar — it searches across both parked and archived tabs. Click any archived result to reopen it in your browser.
- Bookmarks: Open Chrome's bookmarks manager (⌘+⌥+B on Mac, Ctrl+Shift+O on Windows), navigate to "Tab Valet Archive", and click any bookmark to open it.
The archive folder
The "Tab Valet Archive" folder is created automatically the first time you archive a tab. It lives in your Chrome bookmarks and works like any other bookmarks folder — you can rename it, move it, or delete entries directly in the bookmarks manager.
